Wondering why winch?
Winch Bar is named after Mr. F. H. Winch. Messrs. Winch and Nelson built the original Ozone Hotel in 1907 after a design by Mr. C.E.W Parsons. A Mr James Carr, of Glenelg, purchased a half interest in the hotel in February 1918 and his partner was Mr Winch.
In a strange and sad coincidence, the building burned to the ground in August 1918, a few hours after Mr Winch was consigned to his last resting place.
Come in, take a load off and have a drink with a friend or two.
